1. How did the mother distract the child from the toys?
When the child wanted the toys and his father got angry on him,at that time the mother gave her finger and distracted the child’s mind by showing the flowering mustard- field and dragon flies.
2. On the way to the fair, why did the child often lag behind?
The child lagged behind first, when he was attracted by the toys; then he tried to catch the dragon flies; then he was observing the little insects and worms. After that, he was busy gathering the raining petals in the grove.
3. What was the child’s feeling when he saw the crowd moving towards the fair?
When the child saw the crowd moving towards the fair he felt repelled and fascinated by the confusion of the world he was entering.
4. What were the items sold by the sweetmeat seller?
The sweetmeat seller sold Gulab jamun, Rasgulla, Burfi and Jalebi decorated with leaves of silver and Gold.
5. What was the bold request the child made?
The child watch the men, women and children carried away in the round about then the child made a bold request to have a ride on a round about.
6. When did the child realise that he was lost?
The child was wandering in the fair and he reached near a roundabout.He requested his parents for permission but when there was no response to his request,he turned to look at his parents. He looked in all directions but couldn’t find his parents.Thus he realise that he was lost.
7. Why was the child uninterested in the things he earlier wanted?
The child was uninterested in everything he wanted earlier because he had lost his parents in the crowd and he was desperate to find them.
8. What did the child do when the man told him to listen to the snake charmer’s music?
When the man told him to listen to the snake charmer’s music,the child shut his ears with his fingers and shouted,” I want my mother,i want my father.”
